Dumpster fire spreads to Bellflower strip mall attic, no injuries reported
BELLFLOWER, CA — A dumpster fire spread into the attic of a Bellflower strip mall Saturday morning, prompting a first-alarm commercial fire response, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
Firefighters received the initial call at 8:10 a.m. to the 13404 block of Woodruff Ave. and arrived six minutes later, according to Fire Captain and Public Information Officer Aaron Katon.
The fire began in an outdoor dumpster before extending into the building's attic, Katon said.
Firefighters knocked down the fire at 8:52 a.m., and all units were released from the scene by 9:20 a.m. Katon said the response was a first-alarm structure fire involving approximately nine units, including two battalion chiefs.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
