Bell Gardens, CA – Coffee lovers in Bell Gardens can expect a new pit stop as a newly approved Starbucks drive-thru is planned near the corner of Garfield and Florence avenues

A Starbucks spokesperson confirmed in an email that BG will be getting its second location at 6365 Florence Place, which should be serving up cold brews and reasonably priced paninis by Fall 2026.

The coffee giant’s new location, which will replace longtime neighborhood restaurant Eva’s Cookery, was approved by the city's Planning Commission on Feb. 19.

The new store will offer both drive-thru and walk-up service options. Eva’s will be demolished and the new building, developed by Arizona-based The Kaidence Group, will be 1,400-square-feet, 12 feet tall, and feature a 500-square-foot covered patio area.

The location will employ approximately 25 workers, according to Starbucks. The drive-thru is authorized to operate 24/7, while the walk-up window is OK’d from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

Eva’s Cookery first opened its doors in 1989. Current co-owner Irene Zuniga says she will miss chit-chatting with customers, many of whom she considers “like family,” serving up their favorite dishes like piping bowls of Menudo and extra spicy orders of chilaquiles. Still, she admits that retirement is looking pretty sweet.

“We’re gonna travel around,” Zuniga said over the phone. “We want to go to Europe.”

The owners of Eva’s, who purchased the property two years ago, are leasing the property to Starbucks. Zuniga says Eva’s will close in about 3 months.
