Downey library hosting free double feature April 30

The Downey City Library, located at 11121 Brookshire Ave., is set to host a free “Theater Thursday” double feature on April 30 in the Cormack Room.

The first screening, Okja (PG-13), runs from 3 to 5 p.m. and follows a young girl’s bond with a genetically engineered animal as she confronts a powerful corporation in a story that blends adventure with environmental themes.

At 5 p.m., the library will screen Begonia (PG-13), a science fiction drama exploring ecological imbalance and humanity’s place on a changing planet. The film runs until 7:30 p.m.

Both screenings are free and open to teens and adults, with no registration required.
