Fire Breaks Out at Bell Gardens Foam Business, One Person Taken to Hospital
BELL GARDENS, CA — One person was taken to a hospital after a fire broke out Thursday morning at a commercial property in Bell Gardens that houses Empire Foam Innovation.
The fire was reported at 6891 Florence Place, where Google Maps lists Empire Foam Innovation, a plastic fabrication company. A photo taken at the scene also shows firefighters battling the blaze directly in front of the property, with an Empire Foam sign visible behind them.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department said crews were dispatched at 7:27 a.m. to a structure fire in the 6000 block of Florence Place. Firefighters arrived at 7:32 a.m., and the incident was declared a working fire at 7:39 a.m.
Firefighters knocked down the blaze at 7:56 a.m., about 17 minutes after it was declared a working fire.
One person was transported from the scene at 8:04 a.m., the Fire Department said. Officials did not provide information about the person’s condition or say whether they were an employee, firefighter or another individual.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the department.
The Fire Department did not immediately confirm what specifically caught fire, the extent of the damage, or the name of the business involved.
