Motorcyclist killed in Downey crash at Paramount and Gardendale
DOWNEY, CA — A 21-year-old Downey man was killed Tuesday morning in a traffic collision at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Gardendale Street, according to the Downey Police Department.
Police said the crash occurred around 8:26 a.m. when the motorcyclist, who was traveling southbound on Paramount Boulevard, collided with a vehicle making a left turn onto Gardendale Street from northbound Paramount.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as an 18-year-old Compton woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No arrests have been made.
The collision remains under investigation.

UPDATE: The intersection was closed for an extended period following the collision but has since reopened, according to Downey police.
Police said no additional information is being released at this time pending the ongoing investigation and next-of-kin notification.
